She is known in the community as a Bereavement Specialist working with groups and individuals that are grieving the loss of a loved one.

Laurie primarily utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach in counseling. This approach is based on the idea that thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors  and by learning new techniques we can create positive change and growth for ourselves. Laurie believes by creating a strong therapeutic relationship, a person can identify and utilize existing strengths and resources to achieve the success the person seeks.

Laurie lives in Dallas with her husband and two teenagers. As a family they are raising a therapy dog named Winnie. Together they plan to visit hospitals and other care facilities. Once trained and certified Winnie will be a regular at the office with Laurie. Laurie loves to volunteer, read, travel, spend time with family and friends.
